Indian sweets, given the high content of milk / ghee, become stale in less than a week, unless preserved at the right temperature or by adding preservatives. This issue has been so pervaisve with the so-called "fresh" Indian sweet shops, that even FSSAI mandated mention of "Best before date" on all non-packaged sweets in Oct 2020. However, the diktat didn't mandate the mention of manufacturing date, still leaving enough room for "stale" play.
